I live on ten acres in El Dorado County, California, and most of it is relatively wild, so I've been seeing my girls bringing in all manner of shades of pollen. I can *usually* figure out what theyve been visiting, but not always. I have a lot of early and mid-summer pollen/nectar sources naturally, but only a few late blooming sources, so I've been adding a few domesticated plants. In re: plants, one project that I am participating in is The Great Sunflower Project (http://www.greatsunflower.org/), which helps to track pollinator populations. I would recommend heading over to register. It basically just consists of being willing to sit in front of a sunflower for fifteen minutes and record every time a pollinator stops in for a snack.
